Does my AV|Shadow need to be in line-of-sight to control my devices?Infrared codes cannot pass through walls and furniture, however your AV|Shadow has a more reliable infrared emission than standard remote controls. This allows more flexibility in where you can place the AV|Shadow and still get the results you want. When deciding where to place your AV|Shadow, consider the size and layout of your room... best results are with straight line-of-sight, but you can allow the infrared to reflect and reach your devices without being in straight line-of-sight. Try it in a few different locations and see what works best for you.
Your AV|Shadow also features an infrared port for an (optional) infrared emitter cable so you can place it amongst your devices or in a closed cabinet-type environment.
-
What if all my devices are in a cabinet or it's not convenient to point the AV|Shadow at my devices?Your AV|Shadow has very safe but powerful infrared emitters. If it is placed in a cabinet, the infrared signals could be strong enough to reach your devices (by reflection) even if they are not directly in front of each other.
It also features an infrared port for an (optional) infrared emitter cable to help infrared reach your devices.
-
Does the AV|Shadow only control infrared-controlled devices?Yes! Any device using standard infrared can be controlled by your AV|Shadow.
Yes, your AV|Shadow only can control standard infrared controlled devices.Devices controlled by radio frequency signals (e.g.: Bluetooth) cannot be controlled by your AV|Shadow, but you can check with the manufacturer to see if infrared can be enabled.
-
How do I know my TV, Cable box, Amplifier, etc., will get the right infrared codes?Your AV|Shadow draws codes from an immense infrared code database which usually supports any past, current and future infrared devices you may have. We are constantly improving our database. If we discover devices for which we do not have infrared codes, we add them.
