AV|Shadow™

1. What is the AV|Shadow™?
   The AV|Shadow turns your BlackBerry® smartphone into a universal remote control.

   It has three main elements that allow you to enjoy all of your audio/video devices from your smartphone:

   1 – The AV|Shadow software application that installs on your BlackBerry smartphone and allows you to control up to 16 infrared devices and use the important buttons that you would normally use on your devices’ original remotes.

   2 – The AV|Shadow unit that is placed with your devices and allows your smartphone to 'talk' with them

   3 – The UnifyGuide™ that allows you to search TV listings, get information about your favorite shows, add reminders and immediately jump to the shows you want to watch.

   Currently the AV|Shadow works only with BlackBerry smartphones. We will support other smartphones in the near future.

2. What technologies does the AV|Shadow use?
   Controlling your AV equipment with a smartphone is a technological achievement. Put briefly, we use Bluetooth® to connect your BlackBerry smartphone to your AV|Shadow and infrared from your AV|Shadow to control your audio/video devices.

   The infrared codes and button layout for your devices are drawn from an immense database that supports past, current and future infrared devices. Since your smartphone connects to the Internet, your AV|Shadow gets updated with the codes you indicate in your setup automatically.

4. How many devices can my AV|Shadow control?
   Your AV|Shadow can control up to 16 infrared devices.
5. How far can my AV|Shadow be from my devices?
   Under most conditions typical infrared range is 20-40 feet. Depending on the size of your room and furniture layout, you may want to place your AV|Shadow in a manner that allows the infrared sent from it to reflect and communicate with your devices. Placing it right beside your devices would be the ideal location.

   Your AV|Shadow also features an infrared port for an (optional) infrared emitter cable so you can place it amongst your devices or in a closed cabinet-type environment.

6. Can my AV|Shadow control devices that are not infrared?
   No, only infrared device control is supported right now. We have plans to support WiFi in the near future... stay tuned.
